NAC: N-Acetyl L- Cysteine Powder 150g

Product Description

Much of n-acetylcysteine’s benefits center on its ability to serve as a precursor to glutathione, one of the body’s main intracellular antioxidants. Since the 1970’s, n-acetylcysteine has been the primary treatment for acetaminophen (i.e. paracetamol) poisoning. Paracetamol poisoning is induced primarily by depletion of glutathione stores in the liver. Oral n-acetylcysteine is transported to the liver where it counteracts the drop in glutathione levels caused by paracetamol administration.

Antioxidants scavenge free radicals and reduce oxidative stress which may in turn support immune function, cardiovascular and respiratory health. NAC supports both phase one and two liver detoxification pathways and thus supports liver function, healthy inflammation levels and our overall health and well-being as a result.

N-acetylcysteine has been shown to delay fatigue during both short intense intermittent exercise and prolonged exercise. Additional studies have also shown that supplementation with n-acetylcysteine can reduce post-exercise muscle soreness following heavy eccentric exercise. In each of these studies, n-acetylcysteine worked by increasing cysteine/glutathione levels and by minimizing the adverse effects of free radicals on muscle contraction and damage.

NAC is also a compound well known in the medical industry and is used throughout Europe for its use as a mucus dissolving properties and ability to support respiratory health.

Healthwise NAC is 100% Pharmaceutical Grade N Acetyl Cysteine. There are no fillers or additives.

Suggested Dosage:
Consume 1g of N-Acetyl Cysteine per day with food. A flat standard teaspoon provides 3.4g of N-Acetyl Cysteine.

Directions:
Combine powder with liquid and consume immediately. It can be taken both before and after exercise if performance support is the goal.

If you use NAC for more than a month, add a mixed amino acid complex to your treatment regimen to ensure that you are getting adequate, balanced amounts of all the Amino acids.

NAC is most effective when taken on an empty stomach, with a small amount of Vitamin C powder. Vitamin C enhances the conversion of NAC to Glutathione. As the Acetyl portion of the amino acid is quite irritating to the teeth, taking it through a straw is advised, and it also makes it more palatable.
