All About Yarrow|Pom by doTerra

Here is a super cheesy photo which hopefully demonstrates the stunning radiance of my skin thanks to the amazingness that is Yarrow|Pom.

I love love love this Nutritive Complex …. guys this isn’t a straight up essential oil but a synergistic blend of Pomegranate Seed Oil + Yarrow essential oil.

The beauty of this Complex is that it’s designed to nourish our skin from within as well as externally. Beauty isn’t just skin deep now is it.

Healthy fats in the diet are critical for plump, radiant and healthy looking skin that ages well. If we are deficient or consuming them in out of balance ratio’s, this not only creates stress in the body but speeds up the ageing process. Nobody wants that.

This is where Pomegranate Seed Oil comes out to play –

1. Pomegranate Seed Oil contains 55% Punicic Acid and there is an abundance of incredible research into this compound on Pubmed which I encourage you to explore for yourselves but here is a brief rundown of how Punicic Acid may help us delivered in as compliant a way as possible. It supports healthy lipid metabolism in the body, supports healthy triglyceride levels in the circulatory system, supports healthy insulin sensitivity (hello PCOS Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome peeps) and glucose tolerance and is an excellent inflammatory response support. When it comes to healthy skin, Punicic Acid soothes skin inflammation and aids in skin repair. It also hydrates our skin, prevents moisture loss, protects the skin from sun damage and fends off free radicals which promote rapid ageing.

2. Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is amazing stuff and Pomegranate Seed is pretty much the ONLY plant based source making Yarrow|Pom an excellent nutritional support for vegans and vegetarians everywhere.

Dave Asprey from Bulletproof speaks often about the importance of this fatty acid and it’s impact on body function across a myriad of systems. CLA helps your body build muscle rather than store fat and has strong anti-inflammatory properties. CLA is an omega-6 fatty acid which when consumed in the wrong ratios aka, The Standard American Diet can create inflammation in the body. Fortunately, the anti-inflammatory properties of CLA cause it to behave more like an omega-3 in the body. The most well-established benefit of CLA is its fat-fighting power and it’s inflammatory support for nearly every system in your body. Studies show that CLA plays a big role in regulating not only your body’s inflammatory and immune responses but supports liver health and detoxification as a result.

It also just happens to help turn off hunger messages in the body (by controlling our hunger-hormone called ghrelin) and can improve your ability to absorb nutrients. Seriously it’s amazing stuff when it comes to supporting healthy, happy hormones for men and women. When it comes to radiant skin, CLA helps skin retain moisture, supports proper skin renewal and assists in the repair of sun damaged skin. Again, go check out the studies!

3. Then we have Ellagic Acid which is a powerful polyphenol/ antioxidant shown to help protect against impaired cellular growth as well as UV damage and wrinkle formation whilst lightening and brightening the skin.

It stimulates what’s referred to as “keratinocyte” proliferation which promotes regeneration of the epidermis. This may help skin retain its youthful appearance by creating new skin cells together with it’s collagen and elastin boosting properties.

All skin types can benefit from using Pomegranate Seed Oil topically.

It absorbs deeply into the skin without leaving a greasy residue and it doesn’t clog pores. Most importantly though, it is designed to be used daily in small amounts for nutritional support, 1-2 drops at a time.

I’ve seen quite a few people comment on how much they love to add it to their cups of herbal tea (warm not hot water) so perhaps give that a try if you get bored with taking it under your tongue.

Yarrow – you with the beautiful blue hue from the constituent chamazulene ……..

Yarrow shares similar characteristics to Helichrysum with it’s ability to stem bleeding, soothe inflamed skin, brighten the complexion, support skin turnover and regeneration, minimise pores, promote healthy blood flow and ease digestive complaints.

Ordinarily Yarrow is not an oil that could be used internally as it contains a toxic compound called Thuja. doTerra’s Yarrow contains NO Thuja rendering it safe for use as a dietary supplement and safe to use Postpartum to balance hormones, soothe cracked nipples and tone the uterus. It is not safe to use during Pregnancy as it may stimulate the uterus.

Yarrow is going to turn on the emotional taps for you ok, that’s a warning that you will likely experience some kind of emotional response to it such as tears and high sensitivity to the world around you. Be ok with it, trust the process and stick with it.

“Yarrow stabilises polar opposites within the body and is useful during times of major life changes, when emotional equilibrium needs greater support.” [Robbi Zeck, ND]

Ok, I think that’s enough info to digest right now don’t you? It’s a profound product that affords us profound experiences.

I’m going to leave you with my favourite ways to use Yarrow|Pom and just a YAY that it’s now available to purchase through the Aussie, NZ and US warehouses for all.

👉 Try 1-2 drops daily on the tongue for whole body immune, metabolic, circulatory and hormonal support.
👉 Add 2 drops YP to your favourite carrier oil such as Jojoba and massage into the backs of hands, neck and décolletage daily.
👉 For dark circles or bags under the eyes, dab a drop on neat and you’ll notice an instant change within a few minutes.
👉 Use it direct on age spots, pigmentation and any scars you wish to help fade.
👉 For joints needing a little inflammation support, try massaging 1-2 drops into the affected area.
👉 Women, try massaging 1-2 drops into the abdomen for support with cramping and healthy blood flow.
👉 For healthy blood pressure or healthy lipid metabolism massage 2 drops into the wrists twice daily or take under the tongue.
👉 For any kind of skin irritation apply 1-2 drops in Jojoba oil to the affected area.
👉 For PCOS related insulin resistance try 1-2 drops under the tongue daily or massaged into the abdomen.

Hope that’s helpful and my gosh I hope you add this one to your LRP and fall in love with it as I have.

x Bec
