Innovix Labs Full Spectrum Vitamin K2 – 90 Capsules
Product Description
Vitamin K2 tells your body what to do with calcium. When Vitamin K2 levels are adequate, calcium goes into your bones and teeth where it belongs. When Vitamin K2 levels are inadequate, calcium can deposit in soft tissues like arteries, kidneys, and the gum-line, where it can cause problems.
Vit K is referred to as the elusive Activator X and the dental vitamin because it’s just magic in the mouth when it comes to restoring healthy enamel and dentin.
One of the most cardinal signs that we’re not getting enough K2 potentially through our diet is the calcification of dental plaque. If you run your tongue along the back of your lower teeth and notice significant build up, that is a lack of Vitamin K2. The body can’t place calcium into the bones or teeth in this instance.
K2 is critical during pregnancy for proper bone development of the fetus. Baby’s teeth (both baby and adult teeth) are partially formed during first and second trimesters. K2 is needed for all that. The MK-4 form of K2 should be part of all prenatal formulas, but it’s rarely ever found in prenatals. If you are pregnant, make sure to check with your OB before taking.
We also have an osteo immune system that is defending our teeth each and every day which is activated by Vitamins A, D and K2. If we are deficient in either of these, our osteo immune system cannot protect the oral biome properly and rampant tooth decay is the result. Consuming plenty of K2 rich foods can be difficult for folks but it is so so important that we get enough, Innovix Labs Full Spectrum K2 can help with that in conjunction with Rosita Cod Liver Oil and Beef Liver.
Vitamin K2 is found naturally in pungent foods such as liver, sauerkraut, aged cheese, fermented soybeans (natto) and emu oil. The form of K2 found in these foods is called the TRANS form – the natural state of vitamin K2. It is always best to stay as close to nature as possible. This is considered the most bioavailable form, recognized more readily by the body. Therefore, no matter the K2 supplement you choose, be sure it contains all TRANS.
MK-4 and MK-7, both essential for good health, are distributed differently and activate different proteins in the body. MK-4 supports normal brain function, is cognitive-protective, and can travel across the placenta to benefit the developing fetus. MK-7, which goes to work in the bones, is osteo protective and is longer acting in the body.
Vitamin K2 is the substance that makes the vitamin A and vitamin D dependent proteins come to life. While vitamins A and D act as signaling molecules, telling cells to make certain proteins, vitamin K2 activates these proteins by conferring upon them the physical ability to bind calcium. In some cases these proteins directly coordinate the movement or organization of calcium themselves; in other cases the calcium acts as a glue to hold the protein in a certain shape. In all such cases, the proteins are only functional once they have been activated by vitamin K.
Osteocalcin, for example, is a protein responsible for organizing the deposition of calcium and phosphorus salts in bones and teeth. Cells only produce this protein in the presence of both vitamins A and D; it will only accumulate in the extracellular matrix and facilitate the deposition of calcium salts, however, once it has been activated by vitamin K2.35 Vitamins A and D regulate the expression of matrix Gla protein (MGP), which is responsible for mineralizing bone and protecting the arteries from calcification; like osteocalcin, however, MGP can only fulfill its function once it has been activated by vitamin K2. While vitamins A and D contribute to growth by stimulating growth factors and promoting the absorption of minerals, vitamin K2 makes its own essential contribution to growth by preventing the premature calcification of the cartilaginous growth zones of bones.
Vitamin K2 may also be required for the safety of vitamin D. The anorexia, lethargy, growth retardation, bone resorption, and soft tissue calcification that animals fed toxic doses of vitamin D exhibit bear a striking resemblance to the symptoms of deficiencies in vitamin K or vitamin K-dependent proteins. Warfarin, which inhibits the recycling of vitamin K, enhances vitamin D toxicity and exerts a similar type of toxicity itself. Similarly, the same compounds that inhibit the toxicity of Warfarin also inhibit the toxicity of vitamin D. I have therefore hypothesized elsewhere that vitamin D toxicity is actually a relative deficiency of vitamin K2. The synergy with which vitamin K2 interacts with vitamins A and D is exactly the type of synergy that Price attributed to Activator X.
Unlike many other Vitamin K2 supplements, InnovixLabs’ Full-Spectrum Vitamin K2 contains both MK-4 and MK-7 (in its easily-absorbed all TRANS form) and no K1 given this is the most easily obtained through diet such as dark leafy greens. Each small, easy-to-swallow pill packs in 500 micrograms of MK-4 and 100 micrograms of TRANS MK-7. The effective dose and lack of unnecessary fillers is the reason Chris Masterjohn PhD recommends Innovix Labs as the very best K2 supplement on the market. This is high praise!
In the opinion of Innovix, despite the raw material to manufacture K2 being all of plant origin, all K2 supplements are fairly synthetic, including this product and others made from chickpeas. They say this simply because by the time the original raw plant matter has been purified to a state that is ready to consume, it has been through several purification steps. It is not accurate to call it natural at that point because it is so far removed from its natural state, even though the raw material was flower petals. The chickpea MK-7 and all the other K2 marketed as ‘natural’ go through similar processes. It’s a matter of opinion. The process required to make K2 separates it from, say, pastured egg yolk, goose liver, grass-fed cheese/butter or sauerkraut etc. that are the real natural sources of K2. Therefore, Innovix do not feel comfortable calling it natural.
DOES NOT CONTAIN: dairy, eggs, corn, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat/gluten, soy, sugar, GMO, yeast, artificial colors or flavors. Soy-free Vitamin K2. Major allergen-free. Plant based K2.
SUGGESTED USE:
For general health: take one capsule per day.
For heart and arterial health: take two capsules per day.
Best if consumed with a meal. The absorption of vitamin K is dependent on the presence of bile and absorbable fat in the intestinal tract. Chris Masterjohn’s research indicates that around 30g of fat taken with your K2 provides for optimal absorption! Taking digestive enzymes to support healthy bile production may also be beneficial for K2 absorption.
Older children (4 to 5 years olds) can easily bite and pop open the pills in their mouths. For kids that are about 20kg, one pill every second or third day is sufficient. They can either swallow or chew it. K2 is not stored for long, so, there is minimal risk of overdosing.
STORAGE:
Keep out of reach of children. Store at room temperature.
ALLERGY INFORMATION:
If you are pregnant, nursing, or taking any medications (especially anticoagulants like Warfarin or Coumadin), talk to your doctor before use. Free from wheat, peanuts, soy, fish, shellfish, dairy, eggs, and tree nuts. May contain ingredients sourced from nightshades. The color used in the gelatin shell of the softgels is carob derived (not synthetic) and is needed to block light as K2 is light sensitive.
* The most common anticoagulants used in medicine are warfarin and its relatives. As a class, they are known as 4-hydroxycoumarins. These go by a number of brand names, the most common of which is Coumadin. As a class, these drugs act as vitamin K antagonists, and it is absolutely critical that anyone taking them avoid making any changes to their diet or supplements that would be expected to change their vitamin K intake except under the strict supervision of the physician who prescribed the medication.
